SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device for encoding a point cloud. Method of encoding point cloud information comprises obtaining a point cloud including a set of points in three-dimensional space; determining whether the current node is isolated in the set of points; if the current node is isolated, encoding the current node in isolation mode, in which the duplicated number and geometric position of the current node are encoded, if the current node is not isolated, encoding the current node in non-isolation mode, in which a duplicate number for the current node is encoded based on the determination that the current node is a leaf node, or occupancy information is encoded based on determination that the current node is not a leaf node.
EFFECT: improved overall performance of encoding.
