SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 2,2'-(1,4-phenylene)bis(5-phenyl-1,3-oxazole), involving a step for reacting a dihalo anhydride of terephthalic acid with a hydrohalide ω-aminoacetophenone in pyridine at temperature from 20 to 115 °C to form a reaction mass, separating diphenylacetamide of terephthalic acid by cooling the reaction mass, filtering it, washing the precipitate with water, filtering the precipitate and drying, purifying diphenylacetamide of terephthalic acid by heating with pyridine, followed by filtration and drying, treatment of 1 part by weight of diphenylacetamide of terephthalic acid with concentrated sulfuric acid in amount of not less than 7 parts by weight, extraction of 2,2'-(1,4-phenylene)bis(5-phenyl-1,3-oxazole) by adding the reaction mass obtained at the previous step to at least 30 parts by weight of cooled water, filtration, washing of sediment with at least 20 mass parts of water, filtration and drying, purification by recrystallisation of 1 part by weight of 2,2'-(1,4-phenylene)bis(5-phenyl-1,3-oxazole) from at least 8.8 parts by weight of pyridine, followed by filtration and drying.

EFFECT: novel method of producing 2,2'-(1,4-phenylene)bis(5-phenyl-1,3-oxazole) of high purity without participation of highly toxic substances.
