FIELD: electricity; cables.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a fire-resistant electric cable having a fire-resistant PVC sheath, which exhibits reduced runoff when exposed to high temperatures, for example, in case of fire. Fire-resistant electric cable has a core containing at least one electric conductor, an electrically insulating coating and an outer layer made from a fire-resistant polymer composition. Outer layer contains a) polyvinyl chloride (PVC) as a base polymer; b) 25–45 wt.% (70–110 wt.pts.) of at least one metal hydroxide; c) 0.4–3 wt.% (about 1–8 wt.pts.) montmorillonite, optionally subjected to surface treatment, having an average particle size of 5–20 mcm; d) 1.2–3 wt.% (approximately 3–8 wt.pts.) antimony trioxide. Sum of the amount of montmorillonite and antimony trioxide is at least 5.5 wt.pts., and the antimony trioxide and montmorillonite are in ratio of 1:0.1–1:2.5.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to create a cable with improved fire-resistant properties, such as reduced or zero runoff in fire conditions.
