SUBSTANCE: device for automatic adjustment of the gap between the brake lining and the brake drum is made in the form of a signalling wedge, which consists of body (3), which is attached to support disk (1) with bolts (2), set screw (7), wedge (11) with eye (15), electrical contact (16) of thrust arms (17), lower (18) and upper (19) body windows (3), pusher (20) with roller (21), shoe piston (22) with roller (23), flexible ring (25) inserted into groove (24) of the piston. Wedge (11) is made with the possibility of entering into tight engagement with the teeth of pusher (20) and piston (22) due to spring (34), which displaces wedge (11). Groove (24) is 1 mm wider than ring (25), which is permanently displaced. Spring-loaded toothed wedge (11) is made with the possibility of downward movement to fill the space behind piston (22), excluding the idling of the parts when the braking force is applied. Electrical contact (16) of the wedge is configured to close the electrical circuit, which includes body (36) of the insulator, spring-loaded contact (38), battery (39), light bulb (40) that warns of the maximum allowable wear of lining (29).

EFFECT: simplicity of design, the possibility of automatic adjustment of the gap between the brake lining and the brake drum and maintaining a gap of 1 mm for any degree of lining wear, informing the driver about the maximum allowable wear of the lining in order to replace it, and the device can also be used as a transmission handbrake mechanism for cars and light trucks.
