SUBSTANCE: disclosed group of inventions relates to a method of making a brake shoe with solid inserts, a mould for forming a briquette of a polymer composition of a brake shoe, a brake shoe, in particular, a railway brake shoe. Brake pad with solid inserts is made by method cold formation of briquette of polymer composition and subsequent hot forming of the pad in the mould under pressure from the polymer friction material with its simultaneous combination with the metal frame and solid inserts, wherein cold pressing of briquette from polymer mass is performed by puncheon provided with ledges to form cavities in briquette to receive solid inserts. Hot pressing is carried out in a mould with a punch forming the working surface of the shoe with solid inserts in the friction part of the brake shoe. Puncheon forming the working surface of the shoe is equipped with protrusions for formation of cavities in the polymer matrix for each of the inserts arranged in the friction part of the brake shoe; at that, the dimensions of each of the cavities are larger than the dimensions of the corresponding insert.

EFFECT: simplified manufacturing of brake shoe, higher accuracy of positioning of solid inserts relative to central part of brake shoe.
