FIELD: physics; measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to determination of heat conductivity of paint coatings in laboratory conditions. Disclosed is a method for determining heat conductivity of paint coatings, comprising conducting tests using a device comprising a heat-insulated housing, a temperature sensor, heating device. At that, the heat-insulated housing of the device is made in the form of a cone, in upper part of which there is a platform made of heat-insulating material, made with possibility of fixing a test sample on it. Temperature from above of the sample is measured using a device for contactless measurement of temperature, and from below using a thermal block of a temperature sensor, and readings of the device for non-contact temperature measurement and the temperature sensor thermoblock are recorded by a video camera, installed on the rack above the device for contactless measurement of temperature and the thermal unit of the temperature sensor, from the moment of starting the heating device, which provides constant and uniform heating. Obtained video materials are analyzed and thermal conductivity is determined from the temperature difference before the sample and after the sample.

EFFECT: tests can be carried out in a wide range of temperatures and determine serviceability of coatings in different thermal conditions.
