FIELD: public utilities.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of melting ice on wires of overhead high-voltage power lines (HVPL) without disconnecting consumers and can be used on overhead power lines with voltage of 6–10 kV in distribution networks. For this purpose, the method of coping with ice on overhead power transmission lines without disconnecting it from the supply substation and without disconnecting consumers is to increase the current through the wires of these lines by means of artificial creation of additional flow of reactive power by connection of reactive power source to one of the line ends. Besides, in order to ensure voltage levels permissible according to the power quality standard along the entire power transmission line, an additional flow of active power is created by connecting an active load at the end of the line. At that, presence of additional opposite flows of active and reactive power provides conditions, so that voltage levels along the power transmission line are kept in the range of permissible values according to the power quality standard.
EFFECT: providing ice melting on overhead power transmission lines with preservation of uninterrupted and high-quality power supply to consumers.
