METHOD FOR DETERMINING EFFECTIVE PORE VOLUME OF ROCK IN LABORATORY CONDITIONS Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC G01N15/08

Abstract RU 2820738 C1

FIELD: oil industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates, in particular, to laboratory methods for determining effective porosity of rock when filtering water or steam and evaluating efficiency of used process fluids. Method of determining effective pore volume of rock in laboratory conditions involves application of resistivity metering method. A working agent is injected into the prepared saturated core model, which can be water or a steam-water mixture, until a stationary electric resistance is achieved at the output of the model. Sodium chloride solution is injected with volume of 1–2% of the investigated pore volume and concentration exceeding the saturation concentration of the formation model, with further continuous monitoring of electrical resistance of fluid leaving the formation model and determination of effective pore volume according to the obtained dependence of electrical resistance on pumped pore volumes of the injected agent.

EFFECT: determination of effective pore volume of rock during water or steam filtration.
