SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of protecting plants from pests. Method for preparing an agent for plant protection against pests consists in adding to an extractant, obtained by adding to an aqueous buffer solution with pH 1–3 of an organic solvent, capable of being mixed with water, a non-ionic surfactant, crushed tobacco raw material, extraction at temperature not less than 40 °C with subsequent filtration. Further, the tobacco extract pH is adjusted to values of 4–9, a preservative and a substance enhancing the adhesion of the agent to the treated surface are added. Extraction is carried out in the presence of a water-soluble antioxidant, the content of which is not less than 0.01% of the weight of the extractant. Preserving agent used is potassium sorbate, or a mixture of formic and propionic acids in weight ratio of 1:1 to 1:6, or a quaternary ammonium compound. Agent for plant protection against pests, prepared by the proposed method, contains a tobacco extract in an amount of not less than 98 % by weight, a preservative in amount of 0.02–1.5% by weight and a substance which enhances the adhesion of the agent to the treated surface in amount of 0.1–0.5% by weight. Tobacco extract is obtained using an extractant containing, by weight: 50–90% of water, 5–30% of an organic solvent which can be mixed with it, 0.1–5% of a non-ionic surfactant and 1–25% of substances which form a buffer system. Agent additionally contains a water-soluble antioxidant in an amount of not less than 0.01% by weight.

EFFECT: proposed agent for plant protection against pests is suitable for use both in open and protected ground, is effective against a wide range of pests, has high content of tobacco raw material alkaloids, is stable during storage.
