METHOD FOR SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF UMBILICAL HERNIAS IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B17/04 A61B17/3211

Abstract RU 2820826 C1

FIELD: medicine; pediatric surgery.

SUBSTANCE: semilunar incision is made in the lower semicircle of the navel. Hernial sac is approached and the umbilical ring is bypassed by blunt dissection by a clamp. Clamp is left in the created "tunnel". Umbilical cord is opened. Hernial contents are reduced into the abdominal cavity, exposing the upper and lower edges of the umbilical ring defect. Hernia orifice is closed by holding sutures in the lateral angles of the semilunar skin incision, thereby connecting the upper and lower walls of the umbilical ring. Between the sutures-holders, the edges of the defect of the umbilical ring are sutured, passing the needle in the "tunnel" created by the clamp and, having turned the needle, the lower and upper edges of the defect are similarly stitched, thus forming a U-shaped suture in the center. Each holding suture is tightened. Duplicate is created to form an umbilical cicatrix from the previously dissected aponeurosis, which is anchored to a white line of the abdomen with separate interrupted sutures. After the defect is closed, an interrupted intradermal suture is applied.

EFFECT: method enables reducing surgical injuries, providing minimally invasive surgical intervention, eliminating inconsistency of sutures and developing complications, eliminating development of recurrences.
