FIELD: measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining water in hydrocarbon fuel and can be used in electrical engineering, automotive and aviation industry to ensure reliable operation of power plants. Invention is used to analyse content of free water in fuels and oils of both mineral and vegetable origin. Method involves sampling fuel without contact with atmosphere into special sampler 1. At the same time special sampler 1 with sampling unit 2 and dehydration unit 15 are combined by means of bypass main line 38 with shutoff valves into a single "test complex". Sample is taken with a syringe for the content of total water with dehydration unit 15 disconnected and the fuel supply through bypass main line 38 and its additional mixing in disperser 26, elastic replaceable partition 3 of sampling unit 2 is pierced with syringe, total water is determined by Karl Fischer method. Volume of special sampler 1 is rinsed with analysed fuel, it is dried with dry neutral gas and moisture leakage from ambient air is minimized – excess gas pressure is created in volume of special sampler 1. Bypass main line 38 is disconnected, the main part of free water is separated on the separating partition of filter 19 with coalescing properties from a polymer with a spatially globular structure, include dehydration unit 15 using a polymer composite in replaceable water-separating partitions, finally cleaning fuel from free water, fuel is sampled again with a syringe – elastic partition 3 of sampling unit 2 is pierced, dissolved water is determined by Karl Fischer method. Content of free water is determined from the difference in concentration of total and dissolved water.
EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring water content in fuel.
