FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and can be used to stimulate cognitive function in a healthy individual. Disclosed is a method for stimulating cognitive function in a healthy individual, comprising administering to individual from 2 to 100 mg per day of methylthioninium (MT), optionally divided into 2 or more doses, where MT is administered in the form of a LMTX compound of the following formula , where each of HnA and HnB (when present) are protic acids, which may be the same or may be different, and where p = 1 or 2; q = 0 or 1; n = 1 or 2; (p + q) × n = 2 or a hydrate or solvate thereof; and wherein the LMTX compound stimulates basal levels of acetylcholine and synaptophysin in an individual.
EFFECT: invention provides activation of neuron function in healthy subjects by stimulating basal levels of choline and synaptophysin.
