FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and systems for displaying a network device with augmented reality using a mobile device. Method comprises receiving an identification code from a network device by means of a mobile device; displaying captured images of a network device on a display of a mobile device, the images including a plurality of ports of the network device; retrieving information associated with the connection state of each of the plurality of ports using the identification code, wherein the extraction of information comprises accessing a remote database of identification data of devices connected to each of the plurality of ports and a library of virtual objects corresponding to the connected devices; determining, based on the remote database, identification data of devices connected to each of the plurality of ports; determining spatial relationship of mobile device relative to one or more ports using identification code; overlaying one or more virtual ports on top of a network device on images, wherein the virtual ports include information regarding the connection state of the network device in one or more virtual ports; and displaying icons of connected devices adjacent to virtual ports, wherein icons are displayed based on determined identification data of devices connected to each of plurality of ports.

EFFECT: generation of relevant information on the connection state of a network device and devices connected to it using an augmented reality mechanism.
