FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to use of polyalkyl acrylates containing: (a) from 95 to 100 wt.% of branched C8-C10-alkyl acrylates and (b) from 0 to 5 wt.% of C1-C20-alkyl(meth)acrylates, in which weight-average molecular weight is in range from 7,000 to 25,000 g/mol and content of residual monomer is 0.1 wt.% or less, and the ratio of the number of moles of carbon to the number of moles of oxygen in the polyalkyl acrylates is in range of 4.5:1 to 7.5:1 as base oils in lubricating compositions, especially in compositions of industrial gear oils. Invention also relates to a base oil composition, use of a base oil composition, polyalkyl acrylates, a lubricating composition, a method of producing polyalkyl acrylates.

EFFECT: good solubility of polymers in base oils.
