FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry, more specifically to solvents used in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Disclosed is a method of purifying acetonitrile from allyl alcohol, according to which acetonitrile containing allyl alcohol as an impurity is fed to the bottom of the rectification column, mixture of 30–35 wt.% aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide and reflux is fed from the top of the rectification column. Further, acetonitrile purified from allyl alcohol is separated in form of a distillate, and a mixture of glycerol, water and unreacted hydrogen peroxide is removed from the bottom part of the rectification column. Rectification column is of a packed type, which is filled as packing with ceramic balls with tungsten oxide or molybdenum oxide applied as a catalyst.
EFFECT: obtaining acetonitrile, which is free from allyl alcohol and its oxidation products, with implementation of a continuous cleaning method in one piece of equipment.
