FIELD: petrochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to petrochemistry and specifically to a method of inhibiting premature polymerization of styrene during production, extraction and transportation. Described is a method of inhibiting thermopolymerisation of styrene by introducing an inhibiting mixture consisting of tert-butylpyrocatechol and a co-inhibitor, according to the invention, copper (2+) tetra-azobenzoporphyrin or copper (2+) tetrakis(dialkylsulfamoyl)phthalocyanine is added to styrene as a co-inhibitor in amount of 10-12÷10-11 wt.% per weight of styrene at consumption of tert-butylpyrocatechol 10-5÷10-4 wt.% per weight of styrene.
EFFECT: reducing the amount of the main inhibitor of thermopolymerisation of styrene tert-butylpyrocatechol by 2–3 orders of magnitude while maintaining the inhibiting effect.
