SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of inhibiting polymerisation of styrene in the presence of an inhibitor at 120±5°C, which is characterised by that, the process is carried out in the presence of an inhibitor which contains N,N-dimethyl-3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzylamine, saturated carboxylic acid and unsaturated carboxylic acid, with the ratio of components N,N-dimethyl-3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzylamine:saturated carboxylic acid:unsaturated carboxylic acid equal to (1-2):(0.5-1.8):(0.1-1.4) pts. wt, respectively.

EFFECT: efficient prevention of polymerisation of styrene due to reduced amount of thermopolymer from 1,13 wt % to 0 wt % formed with less consumption of inhibitor in amount of 0,05 wt %.
