SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in formation of bales from secondary raw materials. Compaction of secondary raw materials is carried out on a mechanical press consisting of a housing with a loading chamber, a puncheon installed in the loading chamber with the possibility of reverse movement, and mechanical equipment to ensure the movement of the punch. Housing comprises end and side walls, bottom, loading hatches and doors for unloading of finished bales. Mechanical equipment includes an electric motor, a reduction gear for transmission of torque to a drive shaft, which provides for actuation of a chain transmission in the form of a system of closed circuits. Puncheon has stops at four corners for its fixation on chain links. Reverse movement of the punch is carried out by changing the direction of the chain transmission.
