FIELD: metallurgical production.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgical production, specifically to production of seamless pipes of wide range from alloys with shape memory (SMA) based on titanium nickelide (TiNi), and can be used for production of tube billets of SMA TiNi, used for production of various articles of technical and medical purposes (connecting bushings for aerospace application, cardiovascular stents, etc.). Method of producing tubular billets from titanium nickelide-based alloys with diameter of 10–70 mm and a wall thickness of 1.5–20 mm consists in the fact that a SMA TiNi sleeve is obtained from an initial bar by forming a through hole with diameter of 1–5 mm using an electric discharge superdrill at the first stage and cutting a through hole along two contours at the electric discharge cutting machine at the second stage, subsequent rolling of the sleeve at a helical rolling mill with a relative degree of deformation per pass of not more than 25% in a temperature range of 600–1,000 °C on heated mandrel from tool die steel or without mandrel for reduction operation.
EFFECT: enabling production of wide range of high-quality seamless pipes from titanium nickelide-based alloys, which can be used as semi-finished products for making devices operating on the basis of shape memory effect and used in various fields of engineering and medicine.
