FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing unsaturated polyester resins, involving alcoholysis (glycolysis) of a feedstock containing polyethylene terephthalate with bifunctional compounds with hydroxyl terminal groups, polycondensation of the product with maleic anhydride and dilution with styrene, which consists in the fact that polyester tire cord wastes or a mixture of polyethylene terephthalate and rubber crumb is mixed through a melt with a catalyst and with complex oligoesters with hydroxyl end groups with a polycondensation degree from 3 to 5 based on bifunctional carboxylic acid and glycol, wherein bifunctional carboxylic acid used is terephthalic, isophthalic and/or phthalic acid, glycol used is ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, 1,2-propylene glycol and/or neopentyl glycol, and held at temperature of 150–280 °C for 0.5–2.5 hours, the obtained mixture is cooled to temperature of 150–200 °C, maleic anhydride and glycol are added and held for 0.5 to 2.5 hours, after which 25–50 wt.% styrene is added without adding a stabilizer.
EFFECT: providing combined recycling of polyester tire cord wastes, polyethylene terephthalate and rubber crumbs to obtain curable unsaturated polyester resins without adding a stabilizer.
