Rinse-free hair serum composition contains a mixture of non-cyclic silicone ingredients and non-silicone ingredients, wherein said rinse-free hair serum composition contains from 85 to 99.5% of said non-cyclic silicone ingredients, wherein the non-cyclic silicone ingredient is dimethicone; from 0.5 to 15% of said non-silicone ingredients, wherein the non-silicone ingredients are selected from a group consisting of C12–15 alkyl benzoate, wherein said composition does not contain cyclic silicone ingredients. Also disclosed are methods of controlling hair frizz, hair styling, preventing hair damage by surfactants, providing healthy scalp, moisturizing hair and scalp, increasing resistance to hair brittleness, increasing hair shine, increasing hair volume, reducing split ends of hair, improving definition of hair curl outline.
