FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering and can be used to control high-voltage equipment, in particular to localize the point of damage of the current conductor insulator. Electromagnetic signal is received, which occurs when current conductor insulator is damaged, by means of electromagnetic signal reception sensor and it is filtered using a band-pass filter with a pass band of 70-150 kHz. Acoustic signal arising at damage of current conductor insulator is received by means of acoustic signal reception sensor and it is filtered by means of band-pass filter with pass band of 110-115 kHz. Filtered electromagnetic and acoustic signals are digitized by a data processing unit. Electromagnetic and acoustic signals at two ends of the current conductor are received, filtered and digitized. Distance to the current conductor insulator damage from the current conductor two ends is calculated. Distance to the current conductor insulator damage is determined on the basis of the obtained distances from the current conductor two ends to the current conductor insulator damage. Distance from two ends of the current conductor to the damage of the current conductor insulator is corrected so that the sum of these distances is equal to the predetermined length of the current conductor.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining the location of damage to the insulator of a current conductor.
