FIELD: lifting cranes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to telescopic booms for cranes. For the indirect determination of extension length (1) of at least one telescopic section (2) of telescopic boom (3) relative to other telescopic section (4) or main section (20) of telescopic boom (3), in particular, at least part of telescopic boom (3), hoisting device (5) uses at least one first sensor (6), which determines at least one first parameter of at least one telescopic section (2) and/or telescopic boom (3). At least one first parameter is used to determine and/or calculate first virtual length (7) of extension. At least one first sensor (6) and/or at least one additional sensor (8) determines at least one additional parameter of at least one telescopic section (2) and/or telescopic boom (3), in particular during time interval. By means of at least one additional parameter determining and/or calculating at least one additional virtual extension length (9), extension length (1) of at least one telescopic section (2) or telescopic boom (3) is determined and/or calculated from the first virtual extension length (7) and at least one additional virtual extension length (9).
EFFECT: accurate or reliable value of extension length for complex comfort functions without the need for measuring cables.
