FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surveys of geotechnological objects in the field of geomechanics. This invention can be used for rapid determination of stresses on walls of mine workings. Method of determining stresses is based on unloading of rock mass with subsequent measurement of deformations before and after drilling of unloading annular slot. Method involves drilling of an annular discharge slot; at first, reference points are placed on the wall of a mine working at distance of 3 radii from the centre of the discharge slot in three directions: vertical, horizontal and at angle of 45 degrees. After that, initial measurements of absolute deformations are performed, then annular slot is drilled, followed by measurement of absolute deformation of unloading, using the obtained data, calculation of main normal stresses and direction of their action.

EFFECT: obtaining the values of the main stresses of the rock mass and the angle of their action direction, which enable to reliably evaluate the safety of mine workings operation.
