FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an acceptor-catalytic method for synthesis of polyarylate based on phenolphthalein and terephthalic acid diacyl chloride. Synthesis is carried out in an organic solvent medium in the presence of triethylamine at room temperature, wherein the solvent used is a mixture of dioxane and dimethylformamide with content of latter from 25 to 75 wt.%.
EFFECT: invention solves the problem of controlling the value of molecular weight of the polymer, as well as use of a mixture of said solvents makes it possible to avoid using alcohols when precipitating and washing the synthesized polyarylate and to use only desalinated water for this purpose.
