SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, particularly, to devices for manipulating flexible articles or materials, for example, tapes, ropes, threads, when they are wound or laid on spools or bobbins. Cable drum for winding-unwinding a power cable comprises a frame with a drum fixed on it, having parallel side limiters, drive mechanism and motor 11, which create a driving force for unwinding and winding the cable on the drum, cable-laying machine is made with possibility of bidirectional movement along axis parallel to drum and uniform layer-by-layer supply of cable to cylindrical part of drum. Cylindrical part is made between the side limiters. Frame is made in the form of an L-shaped frame, to which the elements are attached from below and from the side. Frame structure, the main function of which is arrangement of elements and units, contains rigid elements connected by welding. Frame is additionally equipped with a hinge joint, which contains mounting brackets, hinged supports and mounting chains, at the same time the front part performs a supporting function during transportation. Drum additionally contains support blocks 12 containing a trunnion, a bearing and an axle box. Support blocks 12 represent a bearing assembly, the main elements of which are trunnion, bearing, axle box, covers, fasteners. Drive mechanism comprises cable drum chain transmission, cable layer chain transmission and cable layer chain transmission. Engagement of the drive mechanism with the reduction gear of cable-laying device 33 is carried out by means of a clutch mechanism, which consists of a cam clutch, a clutch lever and sliders. Cable drum additionally contains protective casings, namely overhead, drum drive chain, cable layer drive chain and cable layer chain.

EFFECT: cable drum provides winding of power cable and its controlled laying.
