FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to equipment used in operation of main gas pipelines, and can be used in gas industry when transporting gas through pipelines as part of shutoff valves as a safety system for automatic shutting off of a gas pipeline in case of an accident associated with rupture (depressurisation) of the gas pipeline. Proposed is an automatic emergency valve shutdown device (AEVSD) for main, process and field gas pipelines, which has a connection to a gas pipeline and an outlet to a shut-off valve drive and consists of a main sealed cylinder with a piston, an additional sealed cylinder with a piston, membrane or piston rigidly connected to a movable rod, a pilot valve with a spring and an adjusting screw, a control valve having an outlet to the shut-off valve drive. One of the cavities of the main sealed cylinder is connected to the gas line, and the other cavity of the main sealed cylinder is filled with liquid and is connected through a throttle hole to one of the cavities of the additional sealed cylinder. At the same time cavity with liquid of the main sealed cylinder is connected to one cavity of membrane or piston, and cavity with liquid of additional tight cylinder is connected to another cavity of membrane or piston. Movable rod is connected to the pilot valve and provides for its switching and supply of a control signal in the form of gas from the gas line or from an external source along the output line to the control valve.

EFFECT: higher reliability and stability of AEVSD, provision for accurate adjustment and readjustment of AEVSD to preset rate of actuation pressure drop, elimination of false actuations of AEVSD.
