FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to organic chemistry, specifically to the technology of producing diosmin, which is used in treating chronic venous insufficiency and haemorrhoids. Method of producing diosmin involves acetylation of hesperidin, oxidation of acetylated hesperidin to acetylated diosmin with an iodine donor at temperature from 90 °C to 120 °C, boiling acetylated diosmin with an alcohol in the presence of a base in an autoclave with a reflux condenser at pressure of 5 to 8 bar. Acetylated diosmin is then deprotected to obtain diosmin by heating in the presence of a base selected from sodium, potassium or lithium hydroxide, potassium carbonate, sodium methylate or sodium ethylate, separately or in a mixture with sodium or potassium acetate. At the last stage, diosmin is successively purified by treatment with a base and an acid.
EFFECT: reduced content of impurities of 6-iododiosmin and isoroifolin in the obtained target compound and providing a technology for synthesis of diosmin without using toxic pyridine.
