SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method and a device for detecting tripping of a tripping unit and to an electrical cabinet containing such a device. Method of detecting tripping of a tripping unit in an electric cabinet, said electric cabinet comprises at least one tripping unit for cutting off electric current and at least one switching unit for switching electric current, method comprises a training phase adapted to form decision categories associated with an acoustic signature of the at least one tripping unit, and a tripping unit tripping detection phase, comprising steps of: obtaining a unit noise signal generated by at least one of said tripping units for switching off electric current or at least one switching unit for switching electric current and comparing said unit noise signal with said decision categories in order to detect whether the unit noise signal corresponds to switching off the tripping unit.

EFFECT: providing the ability to quickly identify when the protection unit has been turned off following an electrical failure in order to manually intervene by an electrical technician, in order to reset the unit and, when applicable, correct the problem that caused the electrical failure, while avoiding sending the electrical technician to the false alarm.
