FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to diagnostics of leaks in pipelines and can be used to determine presence of leaks in areas inaccessible for technical inspection. Method consists in the fact that by means of sensor acoustic noises of operated pipeline are registered, fact of occurrence of leakage is established by change of width of multifractal spectrum of acoustic noise signals with length N, calculated on computer using multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis, the fact of occurrence of leakage is established by deviation of current values of width of multifractal spectrum from values obtained on sealed pipeline.

EFFECT: increased reliability of leak detection due to simplification of measurement results interpretation, elimination of errors in decision making.
