FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to pipeline transfer of oil or oil products and can be used for detecting the transported liquid leakages from pipelines. Detection method of liquid hydrocarbon leakages from main pipelines involves measurement of pressure and flow rate of liquid on the ends of the controlled pipeline section and determination of the liquid mass variation in the above section during the specified time interval by comparing liquid quantity, which entered the controlled section and left it. At that, as per the values of pressures and flow rates measured on the ends of the controlled pipeline section there also determined is the pressure distributed across the length of that section during the above time interval, according to which integral mass of liquid which is enclosed between sections of the controlled section is determined. The obtained values of the liquid mass variation are compared to the calculated variation of integral mass, and if the difference occurs between them, the leakage available in the controlled section is recorded.
EFFECT: invention allows providing leakage recording both in stationary and non-stationary (transient) operating modes of the pipeline owing to improvement of control reliability by taking into account the liquid mass variation in the involved pipeline section for the specified time interval.
