FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of information display devices and can be used for mass entertainment events and for educational purposes. To create a virtual colour image, an indicator is used in the form of a porous opal matrix consisting of monodisperse amorphous spheres of silica with size of 140-600 nm, containing a luminophore in its volume, which partially filled the pore volume, and which increases irisation when immersed in a liquid. Besides iridescence, the indicator exhibits visible luminescence excited by ultraviolet and infrared radiation.
EFFECT: providing the possibility of forming a colour image using irisation and luminescence effects from an opal matrix containing a luminophore, and enabling the user to control the formation of a virtual colour image by changing the illumination conditions of the indicator and the time of impregnation in the liquid.
