FIELD: testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing equipment and increases information value, reliability and accuracy of inspecting air-tightness of articles with stringent reliability requirements during operation thereof, in such engineering fields as aviation, space and machine building. Disclosed is a method for monitoring tightness of ceramic open shells. Proposed method comprises sealing shell face with the help of vacuum grease and plate. After achieving vacuum, background value of helium Qbg is measured, then tightness of joint of shell and tooling is checked by blowing with helium and fixing flow QHe. If QHe < Qbg, cover is installed, Qbg is re-measured and helium is supplied into cover, fixing total flow QΣ. Then the jacket is dismantled, atmospheric pressure is supplied to the shell and repeated sealing is performed. A local helium chamber is installed to measure the helium flux QHe in different sections of the shell, while recording the results with reference to coordinates of leaks.
EFFECT: high information value and reliability of inspecting air-tightness of ceramic open shells by determining total gas flow through the inspected ceramic shell, as well as localization of detected leaks on the surface thereof.
