SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to chemistry, biology, medicine, veterinary science, agriculture and specifically to determination of flavonoids in water pepper herb or common knotgrass herb. Method for identifying rutin and hyperoside flavonoids in medicinal plant raw materials using ascending thin-layer chromatography, in which water pepper herb or common knotgrass herb is extracted with 96% and 70% ethyl alcohol, respectively, filtered, then chromatographic plates are coated with filtrates of extractions by 10 mcl and dissolved in 70% ethyl alcohol to concentration of 0.5 mg/ml standard samples of rutin and hyperoside by 2 mcl, then separated in a chromatographic chamber with a mobile phase saturated for 30 min, which is a mixture of solvents of toluene, ethyl acetate, formic acid and water in ratio of 10:20:5:2, respectively, dried to remove traces of mobile phase, while heating plate for 3 minutes at temperature 105 °C, developing by alternate spraying with 1% diphenylboric acid solution of aminoethyl ether in 96% ethyl alcohol and 5% solution of polyethylene glycol 400 in 96% ethyl alcohol, detecting in ultraviolet light at wavelength 365 nm, determining an adsorption zone.

EFFECT: above-described method of identifying rutin and hyperoside flavonoids in water pepper herb or common knotgrass herb is sensitive and selective.
