FIELD: gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gas industry for continuous production of hydrogen and structured carbon by pyrolysis of methane with virtually no emission of carbon oxides. Invention relates to a method of producing hydrogen by pyrolysis of methane, in a reactor with gas heating, located coaxially in a vertical cylindrical gas furnace with an ignition burner and a burner for burning hydrogen, where part of obtained hydrogen is used for heating methane to pyrolysis temperature, wherein air supplied for combustion of methane-hydrogen mixture is heated in heat exchanger by exhaust gases for heat recovery, then, exhaust gas temperature is decreased to dew point to obtain pure distilled water. Reactor walls are continuously cleaned of carbon deposits by electromagnetic cleaning system.

EFFECT: continuous production of hydrogen, graphite and distilled water via pyrolysis of methane without using external sources of electric power, low cost and complexity of the process of producing hydrogen, environmental protection from carbon oxide emissions.
