FIELD: gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to produce hydrogen by pyrolysis of methane. The plant for producing hydrogen in a gas-heated reactor is made of high-alloy stainless steel and includes a reactor for the thermal decomposition of methane into gaseous hydrogen and solid carbon with an inlet tube for supplying methane and an outlet tube for extracting gaseous hydrogen, a vertical cylindrical gas furnace and a compressor. Inside the gas furnace, a reactor is coaxially placed, protected from the furnace space by the inner wall of the furnace. In the lower part of the gas furnace there are two burners with control valves: a kindling burner and a burner for burning part of the hydrogen produced in the reactor, which is connected through a drain pipe to an outlet pipe for sampling hydrogen gas. The compressor, which creates the operating pressure in the plant, is located on the hydrogen extraction outlet pipe. The outer part of the gas oven is protected by thermal insulation.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to produce hydrogen without emissions of carbon oxides and without the use of external sources of electricity, to simplify the process of hydrogen production and the plant design.
