FIELD: light-sensitive emulsions. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of preparing emulsion containing flat silver halide monocrystals. In order to increase light sensitivity (to 100-250 relative units) and covering power (to 0.92-1.20) of emulsion, two-jet crystallization process is performed by way of simultaneous introduction into aqueous gelatin solution of equimolar silver nitrite and alkali metal bromide solutions with equal and constant rates at 40-70 C followed by entering into emulsion obtained equimolar solutions of silver nitrate and alkali metal bromide or alkali metal bromide/iodide mixture with volume rates rising from 1 to 40 ml/min as crystallization is progressing. In this case, crystallization is carried out at pBr 0.9-1.1 and pH 6.0-10.0 by introducing alkali metal or ammonium hydroxide, cooling emulsion, adding phthaloylgelatin, and lowering pH to 2.5-3.5.
