FIELD: tire making industry. SUBSTANCE: mechanism for treating side walls of pneumatic tires has axially movable clamps in the form of resilient elements secured by ends to sectors. When applying first layer of cord on drum, collector grips free ends of resilient elements at either side to compress them to a thickness exceeding the thickness of cord and move in a direction toward the central axis of the drum. Then the clamps are released, and edges of the first layer become forced between the sectors and flexible elements. EFFECT: improved quality of tires. 3 dwg
