FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: desired product is prepared by yield 97.7 L-sorbose is used as reagent 1, acetone is used as reagent 2, methanol being used as reagent 3. Reaction is carried out by adding mixture of isomers of 1,2- and 2,3-monoacetone-L-sorbose into reaction mass, molar ratio reagent 1:reagent 2:reagent 3: mixture of said isomers being 1:0.19-0.26: 3.0-4.0: 0.3-0.4. Reaction takes place by boiling in the presence of sulfuric acid. The process is followed by neutralization with 44-46 alkali and by separation with the help of sodium sulfate. Side mixture of isomers of 1,2- and 2,3-monoacetone-L-sorbose is returned into process. EFFECT: improves efficiency of the method. 1 tbl
