FIELD: ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy, may be used in production of copper, nickel and ferrous metallurgy, may be used in production of copper, nickel and nickel-copper alloys. SUBSTANCE: lining has chrome magnesite charge 2 and masonry made from lining fire-resistant blocks 6 and fire-resistant blocks 4 and 5, which are positioned from top and from below lining fire-resistant blocks 6 and are biased towards reaction zone. Lining fire-resistant blocks 6 are also biased towards reaction zone for a value equal to that of fire-resistant blocks 4 and 5. Space defined by shell 1 of converter and masonry is filled with fire-resistant mass 7. The value of bias of lining fire-resistant blocks 6 and fire-resistant blocks 4 and 5 relative to remaining part of lining makes 10-15% of their length. Fire-resistant mass 7 disposed between converter shell and masonry allows penetration of matte to converter shell to be prevented, especially at final stage of operation of converter, by providing monolithic packing layer, which may not be shifted by matte penetrated through damaged liner. Moreover, monolithic layer provides local thickening of lining to allow fire-resistant block to be used till complete wear and wear of tuyere belt lining and of masonry part disposed above tuyere to be leveled. EFFECT: increased strength of lining by providing packing layer between converter shell and masonry and elimination of the process of rotation of converter to prevent fracture of assembled part of masonry and simplify manufacturing of lining. 1 dwg
