FIELD: passive optical location. SUBSTANCE: image of object is formed, it is transformed into distribution of electric charges, these charges are accumulated and are read out by scanning electron beam in the course of one frame of television sweep, are converted into videosignal with compensation of background component in proportion to averaged value of background component, distribution of electron current in electron beam is formed in direction perpendicular to direction of scanning so that central part of electron current of scanning beam corresponds to reading of maximum value of charge and side part of electrons of scanning electron beam overlapping N lines corresponds to reading of charge caused by distributed brightness background. Successive reading of television frame by scanning electron beam is carried out over lines of N fields of television raster with simultaneous reading by same electron beam of changes caused by distributed background component over N-1 adjacent lines. Coarse compensation of background within wide range of external background illuminances is conducted by change of dimension of electron beam in direction perpendicular to scanning in proportion to measured averaged value of background component in videosignal and fine compensation is performed by change of intensity of reading beam in proportion to averaged value of background component in videosignal. EFFECT: increased probability of correct detection of objects in presence of brightness distributed background thanks to enhanced contrast. 2 cl, 3 dwg
