FIELD: production of ion exchange materials. SUBSTANCE: microspheral zeolite is countercurrently treated with alkali or alkali-earth metal salt solution in a column-type apparatus with a charge at liquid to solids weight ratio (2-3): 1 and linear velocity of ascending solution stream not higher than 6 m/h followed by countercurrent washing carried out in a column-type apparatus with a charge at liquid to solids weight ratio (0.5-1.5):1 and linear velocity of ascending stream not higher than 7 m/h, ascending streams being fed with reciprocating pulse oscillations. EFFECT: increased cation exchange capacity and granulometric homogeneity of product; reduced volume of waste solutions.
