SUBSTANCE: method of chemically determining calcium oxide in ash involves the steps of: mixing each ash sample with water or 0.5-3% formic acid solution or 0.3 % calcium chloride solution or 0.3-3% ammonium chloride solution or 0.3-1.5 % glycerine solution or 0.5-1.5 % ethylene glycol solution, determining initial and maximum temperatures at solidifying ash dough and determining the temperature difference, determining a free calcium oxide content as a function of the temperature difference and finally determining the free calcium oxide content in ash of a batch to be examined from the obtained relationship, the information on the obtained relationship accuracy being derived from a pair correlation coefficient.
