FIELD: manufacture of building materials; production of aerated concrete at minimum average density on base of high-calcium ash of thermal power plants. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes mixing of water and ash, introducing gas- generating agent, determining time required for mixing water and ash; gas-generating agent in form of aluminum suspension is introduced after mixing water and ash; then, dependence of mixing time Z, temperature effect Y of hydration of ash sample and time X of attaining maximum temperature at determination of temperature effect is set; temperature effect of hydration of ash sample is found from the following formula: y = Tmax-Tin, where Tmax is maximum temperature, C; Tin is initial temperature, C; time required for mixing ash and water samples delivered anew is determined by dependence expressed in form of equation which has the following form: = -7,825+0,302•X+2,209•Y.
