FIELD: exhaust systems of internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: during operation of internal combustion engine, exhaust gases enter exhaust pipe line. This flow partially forces, through branch pipe, aqueous solution containing lime water and nonionic surface-active substance out of reservoir to high-temperature gas flow through sprayer. Simultaneously, aqueous solution of carbamide is forced out of reservoir through supply pipe and sprayer. Carbon monoxide, sulfur oxide and sodium oxide are chemically neutralized in exhaust pipe line. Then, moving flow enters silencer. In mixing chamber filled with granules of expanded clay aggregate, flow is intensively swirled and its noise is absorbed. Besides that, expanded clay aggregate is used as solid porous carrier on which unreacted carbide falls out and crystallizes; it is also used for further neutralization of nitrous gases and nitric and nitrous acids.
