CENTRIFUGAL SPEED GOVERNOR OF TURBOCHARGED DIESEL ENGINE Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; diesel engine speed governors. SUBSTANCE: speed governor has centrifugal member with cross head and ball-type flyweights. Cross head is made for axial travel along camshaft extension. At one side, ball-type flyweights rest on disk, and at other side, on taper plate. Disk is rigidly coupled with spring-loaded splined sleeve which has internal straight and oblique slots engaging, respectively, with straight slots on shaft extension and oblique slots on fuel pump drive shaft extension. Plate engages with coupling hinge-connected with main lever. Upper part of main lever is connected with fuel pump control rack through rod and resilient member. Main lever is coupled with control lever through variable-speed spring. Pneumatic sensor rod acts on rack. When fuel feed (load) is reduced according to performance curve, rack and coupling move to the right which causes movement of cross head disk and splined sleeve in the same direction owing to force of deformed spring. Movement of splined sleeve leads to turning of camshaft relative to drive shaft and change of injection advance angle. With load decreased, injection advance angle decreases also.
