FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves the steps of: placing a test object to be mixed into a cylindrical cuvette made of optically transparent material and a mixing member made of magnetic material as well; producing a rotating magnetic field with the aid of four flat pair-wise connected coils coupled to sinusoidal current sources with a phase shift of 90 degrees, the pole-pieces being uniformly distributed along the circumference to concentrate rotating magnetic field; placing the cuvette with the test object into a round opening defined by the flat pole-pieces such that upper level of liquid in the cuvette coincides with the magnetic field plane. The magnetic field holds the mixing member on surface level and simultaneously drives it into rotation thus mixing liquid. The coil magnetic cores are oriented in space such that measurement light flux passes through the test object through the cuvette center orthogonally to its axis without obstacles. EFFECT: reduced sample volume due to more complete use of the cuvette volume in determining optical characteristics of the test object during mixing, with the mixing member being located on the liquid surface. 2 cl, 3 dwg
