MULTIPURPOSE LOAD-HANDLING DEVICE Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: ground transportation facilities. SUBSTANCE: multipurpose load-handling device has X-shaped framework collapsible in longitudinal plane. Framework is made up of frames 1 and 2 connected by joint 3. It has also axle 3 with wheels 5,6 arranged at a distance from each other and support 7. Axle is installed at end of frame 1. Frames 1,2 form planes arranged at angle γ_i. Installed on framework at side of supporting members 5,6 and 7 are multiposition locks 8,9 to provide several fixed values of angle γ_i of frames 1,2 equal to 90, 120 and 60 degrees. Fitted in center of axle 4 between wheels 5 and 6 is roller 12 with groove 13 to reeve in flexible tie ( wire rope, cable ). Diameter of roller is less than diameter of wheels 5 and 6. Offered are rational design versions of device: with compound roller 12 ( made up of two parts moved apart in inoperative position ); with additional roller 21 installed on flange of H-shaped support 7 in plane of rotation of roller 12; with similar level of arrangement of lower points of support 7 and roller 12 in middle ( nominal ) transportation position of device: Δh = 0. Device can be operated in two fundamentally different modes: as two-wheel cart ( truck ), and as wire rope ( cable ) unit to hoist loads to building roofs.
