FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: shield support is composed of individual sections. Each section includes ceiling, skids coupled with supporting props and ram jacks. Skids have volumetric prop. Nose is hinged to ceiling which is provided with sliders. It also carries rests and guides to accommodate sliders. Volumetric prop is connected to sliders via ram jacks and to nose via cross-pieces. Nose is laid on rear end of ceiling. EFFECT: enhanced reliability for working of thick steeply dipping coal seams. 2 dwg
