FIELD: machine tool manufacture. SUBSTANCE: lathe has a base with guides along which a spindle head with a clamping device moves (within a working zone) and a support with a tool head. The working zone is limited by a safeguard in which wall isolating this zone from a charging position outside the safeguard a window is made for passing the spindle head with the clamping device surrounded by a shroud engageable with a seal embracing the window. A movable flap used for closing the window and engaging with the seal embracing it is mounted outside the wall. A sluice chamber with a cover and a cover seal is also mounted outside the lathe.
